PRIDE mini collection ~ Rainbow~ Iris Agate Copper Necklace 1
I’ve been wanting to work with this stunning material for so long and decided Pride month was a delightful occasion to do so. Iris agate is a very special stone that doesn’t look very unique at first glance…. but when held up to the light at the right angle, RAINBOWS appear and shift through the banding on the stone. I like to think of it like people: you have to shine light on them to see their true colors. And just like light, we are all a spectrum— each of us individually and a society as a whole are made up of so many different parts and pieces, and that diversity is beautiful and should be celebrated. <3 This necklace is copper electroformed with a raw finish and hangs on an 18-inch chain.
Collection: PRIDE mini collection! As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I wanted to do a mini collection celebrating the diversity of gender and orientation, and honor all those who came before me, fighting to make the world a safer place for people like me. This collection is a symbolic motif of rainbows as seen in iris agates as the main material component. I will be donating 10% of the profits from these pieces to the Trevor Project as my small way of giving back and helping save LGBTQ+ lives.
Metal: Copper- an energy conductor and balancer.
Stone: Iris agate is said to offer courage and confidence of self. I also see it as a lovely representation and celebration of the diversity of humanity in the LGBTQ+ spectrum.
Note: Sterling silver is an alloy of 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. Sterling silver, copper, and brass will all change appearance over time and may react with moisture and body chemistry.
